Gianluca Pettini
Retired Italian IT professional, passionate about personal finance for ten years.
I'm Gianluca, a retired Italian IT professional. I discovered personal finance late — and paid the price for it, like many of us who grew up without any decent financial education.
For ten years I've been passionate about this world, reading, experimenting and trying to really understand how it works, and I came to realise how little beginner-friendly simplicity existed. SimpleInvest is the tool I wish I'd had when I started investing: simple, honest, with no products to sell and no conflicts of interest.
There's only one goal: to help those who aren't experts yet approach personal finance with method and clarity — without depending on someone who has something to sell you.
My journey
After 40 years working in IT, and now a newly retired professional, I wanted to put my experience and passion to good use. Personal finance has always been a subject I explored with real interest, and one I started sharing with family and friends to help them manage their wealth better. In building the portal I also used several AIs for support, which let me work faster, explore more ideas, improve the quality of the content and make the project more complete and efficient. With SimpleInvest I simply wanted to create a portal that would help me do this simply, and that could also be useful to a wider audience.
Why I created SimpleInvest
SimpleInvest was born to solve a very concrete problem: making ETF investing more understandable, more orderly and less dependent on market noise. I've seen many people approach investing with fragmented tools, scattered information and language that's far too technical; that's why I wanted to create a portal offering a clear, free and accessible entry point, where you can understand what you're doing before even deciding how to do it.
My approach is one of useful simplicity: less unnecessary complexity, more tools that help you make better decisions. I don't want to promise returns, but to help investors build a method, evaluate scenarios, think through goals and risk, and use ETFs as the foundational building block of a coherent strategy. To me, technology shouldn't replace awareness — it should make it easier.
I firmly believe that education and action need to go hand in hand: learning and doing aren't two separate phases. That's why I wanted to connect guides, simulators and practical tools, so users can move naturally from theory to building a portfolio. In other words, the portal's goal is to turn financial knowledge into simple, verifiable actions suited to a retail investor.
The promise: zero conflicts of interest
SimpleInvest is free and will stay that way. Here's what that means in practice:
SimpleInvest offers educational content and simulation tools — it does not provide personalised financial advice. For significant investment decisions, please consult a qualified financial adviser.
